October One Question A Day

Hello! I said good bye to summer with a tear in my eye. But welcomed Fall with a bright smile. The month of October is special not just because of Halloween but also because it’s my birthday month. In this awful year of 2020 I turn the big 50. I am bummed not because I turned 50 but because I couldn’t celebrate the way I wanted. My husband also turned 50 and so we wanted too through a hug Halloween, dress up party to celebrate this mile stone. But 2020 said no. We are allowing ourselves to stay 50 an extra year and have a proper celebration in 2021.

The reason why I had to tell you about my birthday it’s because the questions for this month are based on a realization that I need to start thinking and planning for the next phase in my life. After all I am middle age now. These questions are based on some of the thoughts that have recently been kicking around in my head, maybe some of you have been thinking about such things as well. You might have to do some research to answer some of the questions, after all that’s what this writing exercise is about; to get us to think deep and search our own souls.

P.S. I am so sorry for my delay in getting these to you. I have been beyond busy with family matters, a little traveling and birthday celebrating too.

One Question A Day/September

I must admit, it is getting harder to find questions that are fun, engaging and most importantly, not repeated. This month I decided to take on the “Would you rather” approach and just have fun with the questions and also the journaling. Don’t take them seriously, but take the time to write reasons and stories that might go with the answers. And definitely don’t feel like you have to pick one or the other, maybe you want to pick both or none.

If you have any suggestions or ideas for next month’s theme send me a note. My email is here and you can also reach me on Instagram or Facebook, after all, they are one and the same.

July-One Questions a Day

The theme for this month’s questions is ” My personality type”. I recently discovered that I am an Empath- According Dr. Judith Orloff from Phycologytoday.com – The trademark of an empath is feeling and absorbing other people’s emotions and, or, physical symptoms because of their high sensitivities. These people filter the world through their intuition and have a difficult time intellectualizing their feelings.

I found it this fascinating, I thought that the way I felt was the same as everyone else. But that was not the case. I recently read about the characteristics of an empath personality (a questionnaire)- found in Phycologytoday.com- to find out the level of my empathy. The results shocked me, but also made so much sense. I finally understood why my emotions were to the roof with the recent events going on around the world and around my city. My stress level and emotions were overwhelming and they paralyzed me. I didn’t have to watch the news to feel the overpowering fear and sadness that the world was experiencing. I often attributed all these strong emotions of fear and anxiety to my childhood experiences when I lived in El Salvador during the war. I am sure it is a combination of both, my personality and my experiences.

This month’s questions are a guided soul searching. A way for you to learn more about your personality type, what makes you, you. Why you are the way you are. A reflection on your feelings and even some behaviors. Sometimes we go about our day, living our lives not being aware of why we feel the way we feel or act the way we act.

Although these questions could be answered with a “yes” or “no” take the time to think deeper and explore your answers. Why did you answer “yes” or why was your answer “no”, why do you think you answer the way you did? what are the reasons for your answers? are you happy with your responses? did you realize you had that quality or that characteristic, that personality trait? dissect your responses and I hope you will learn something interesting and fascinating about yourself.

There are all types of tests out there you can take to find out more about your personality type. I will add some links below for you to explore. I hope you find them useful.
